Ukraine’s Independence Day: a tree containing Ukrainian soil is to be planted in Sorrento

A tree containing Ukrainian soil

will be planted in Sorrento to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day On 24 August at 5.00 pm, a symbolic event will take place at the Villa Comunale in Sorrento to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day.

This year, the Municipality of Sorrento (Comune di Sorrento) will plant a new tree near the commemorative stone erected in support of Ukraine.

The event will take on special symbolic significance thanks to the Ukrainian soil brought from Kyiv. It will be placed beneath the tree’s roots — as a symbol of the unbreakable bond between Ukrainians and their homeland, even far beyond Ukraine’s borders.

The organisers invite the Ukrainian community in Sorrento and all friends of Ukraine to join the event and celebrate Independence Day together.
